Data Protection
BlueShark (Search) LLP is registered as a recruitment business with the Office of the Information Commissioner in the United Kingdom. As a matter of policy we do not share personal data with affiliates or third parties other than our clients, and only then with your express permission. In certain circumstances personal information may be transferred outside the EEA, again this will only ever take place with your express permission.
Data we hold
Most data is low-level, meaning we have your name, employer, job title, work email address, contact telephone number and your geographic location. Other data we may hold will include information in the public domain, such as self-submitted details on social networking sites or profiles posted on your current and/or previous employers’ websites.
Once we have engaged in dialogue, we will hold CV/résumé details, which may include your home address, religion, nationality, earnings, etc. We NEVER use religion, race, age or sex as search criteria, and only use nationality in connection with work permit limitations in a limited number of circumstances.
Data Collection
Our research teams compile pre-qualified targeting lists for the distribution of relevant vacancies. Such data are collected by a variety of means; direct telephone canvassing of your current employer, referrals from people with whom you have worked, customers, press articles, internet articles, employers websites, social networking sites, old job-board databases, etc., to name a few. If you are on a targeting list, you will usually know within 48 hours of our identifying you.
Predator – BlueShark’s electronic headhunting platform
Our first contact with you will be via email, at work. The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, prohibits the sending of unsolicited marketing emails to individual subscribers, i.e. your home email account (or UK Partnerships or Sole Traders), without your request or permission. Once you have requested we use your private email, it will become the default for all further communication. Our initial message makes it quite clear that we have approached you, so you will not be compromised if your employer sees the message.
While our first email will be unsolicited, it is not a marketing message, as we are not soliciting your money or services. We also go to great lengths to ensure it is relevant, and therefore not Spam. You are free to request that we remove you from our records (or mark you as inactive) at no cost to yourself by return email, or by phone, fax or post. We always publish our full contact details on all outgoing messages.
Within the EU your employer is under duty not to intercept our messages to you, as covered by The Telecommunications (Lawful Business Practice) (Interception of Communications) Regulations 2000. This does not mean they cannot read it. BlueShark accepts no liability for any loss or damage caused by its email messages.
